First Talks of the Year: Neuromorphic Computing, Edge AI, From Healthcare to Cybersecurity
2026 is starting with two speaking engagements on a topic I’ve become increasingly focused on: neuromorphic computing and its impact on cybersecurity and critical infrastructure.

I’ll be presenting at:
- San Diego Underground — February 4 https://www.sandiegounderground.org/
- BSides San Diego — April 4 https://www.bsidessd.org/
Both sessions explore how neuromorphic, brain-inspired computing and edge AI are changing how we detect threats, process signals, and design security systems outside the data center.
Neuromorphic systems operate using event-driven spikes rather than continuous data streams. The result is computing that is low-power, low-latency, and exceptionally good at recognizing patterns and anomalies — exactly what modern security problems demand.
In these talks, I discuss how neuromorphic computing will effect everything from physical security, healthcare, aviation, and cybersecurity. We’ll explore how this technology will change the landscape in various vertical markets.
These are just the first talks of the year, and I expect this conversation to continue as more venues are added. Neuromorphic computing feels like one of those quiet inflection points — subtle at first, then everywhere.
Fortiva will keep exploring what that means for security, resilience, and future-ready design.
